Encountering the stars, I learn of God’s power and strength which helps me to know that His understanding is deeper than I can comprehend. He surely sees my troubles! He knows what I experience!

But what is He doing about it? What response does He have?

²⁸Have you never heard? Have you never understood? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of all the earth. He never grows weak or weary. No one can measure the depths of his understanding. ²⁹He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.

Isaiah 40:28-29

³He heals the brokenhearted and bandages their wounds. ⁴He counts the stars and calls them all by name. ⁵How great is our Lord! His power is absolute! His understanding is beyond comprehension! ⁶The Lord supports the humble, but he brings the wicked down into the dust.

Psalm 147:3-6

These scriptures comfort me and give me hope. I stumble along the way. I skin my knee; I bruise my hands; I grow weary; my strength fails; my heart breaks. He is close to me at those times. He takes care of my wounds, he strengthens me and lifts me up. He walks beside me to support me on the way.

When I am with my grandchildren, there are times I want to help them do something. I am only successful when they allow me to help — when they humble themselves and submit to the process of receiving assistance. It doesn’t always happen. Therefore, I can’t always help.

It is the same between me and Father. He wants to help. He wants to come alongside me and support me. Sometimes I am too proud and stubborn to allow him. Sometimes I depend on what I know and can see with my eyes.

There are times I need to read this admonition from David in Psalm 32:

⁸The Lord says, “I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you. ⁹Do not be like a senseless horse or mule that needs a bit and bridle to keep it under control.”

Psalm 32:8-9

There are many situations that make trust difficult. Consider your life today. What keeps you from humbling receiving the strength and help God provides? He really does understand and comprehend everything about you. He wants to help.
