What is the message Paul preached to the people in the city of Thessalonica?

He explained the prophecies and proved that the Messiah must suffer and rise from the dead. He said, “This Jesus I’m telling you about is the Messiah.”

Acts 17:3

… that God loves you and has chosen you to be his own people. For when we brought you the Good News, it was not only with words but also with power, for the Holy Spirit gave you full assurance…Jesus, whom God raised from the dead. He is the one who has rescued us from the terrors of the coming judgment.

1 Thessalonians 1:4-5, 9

In a nutshell, Paul’s message is very simple. Jesus fulfilled the prophecies of the Old Testament, he died and was raised to life again, he will come again for us and rescue us from judgment. This is the GOOD NEWS!

Is that the Good News you believe? Or have there been add-ons or riders attached to simple faith in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus? Do you look forward to his coming when he will rescue us from the trouble and hardship of this world?

Jesus, talking to Nicodemus, put it this way:

God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him.“There is no judgment against anyone who believes in him.”

John 3:17-18

Later he told his disciples this:

Don’t let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, and trust also in me. There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If this were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? When everything is ready, I will come and get you, so that you will always be with me where I am.”

John 14:1-3

It’s just that simple. Believing that Jesus is God’s Son and the answer to the problem of sin is all that is needed to spend eternity with him. As Jesus said, there is plenty of room at the party so invite everyone you know.

And yes, you are all invited. Have you accepted the invitation yet?
