David used his despair as a platform to draw others to faith in God. Others have done the same. One example in particular is Horatio Spafford, who penned the lyrics to “It is Well With my Soul.” Very few know the kind of tragedy this man and his wife experienced, and yet it produced the profoundly deep words of a well loved hymn.
